Children's Ministry: Unlimited-Culpeper (Special Needs)

Unlimited Special Needs Team Leader:

The MVCC Unlimited-Special Needs Team Leader has the responsibility for welcoming new families and students with special needs to the Unlimited Ministry.  The Coordinator of this ministry will communicate and coordinate special needs activities and resources with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Unlimited- Ministry Partners and families with special needs students/children.

Why this matters: 

When individuals with special needs receive care and support while participating in Sunday morning and ministry specific events, it enables these individuals to experience God and His love in a manner they can understand. It also allows families of special needs students to worship in a Sunday morning service. 

Requirements: 

●        Has a personal relationship with Jesus.

●        Displays leadership qualities and has the ability to lead a team (communicate, organize,               schedule, new ideas)

●        Reliable and willing to communicate.

●        Desire to help others engage in activities that they might not otherwise be able to do.

●        Patience and respect for learning differences.

●        Respects the privacy of the individual with special needs and their family.

Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:

●        Willing to meet with new families to access if the MVCC Unlimited Ministry can meet their             child’s needs and to gather pertinent information.

●        Invest time in studying the information provided about the individual to optimize the                   experience.

●        Work with the family, Buddy and/or ministry director regarding the child’s needs and any             modifications needed for activities.

●        Communicate with the individual’s family regularly about progress made, concerns, or                   questions. Be open to their views and questions.

●        Communicate with MVCC Children’s Coordinator and team of Buddies about the weekly               PCO schedule.

●        Keep buddy binders current with updated information.
●        Help to recruit one on one buddies for Unlimited Ministry
●        Help lead quarterly meetings and/or trainings for the Unlimited Team

●        Individual with special needs participates in Sunday morning activities or ministry specific            event in a safe and engaging manner.
●        Family members are able to participate in Sunday morning activities or ministry specific                event.
●        Individual wants to come back!
